MISSION: RESCUE AND EXTRACTION
To say Jackal Retro is solely about saving POWs would be an oversimplification. You're not just any soldier; you are part of the esteemed Jackal Squad, an elite group chosen and intensely trained to endure any environment. Your task is challenging - you must drive a weaponized jeep into enemy lines to locate, rescue, and extract POWs. It's not merely about survival. It's about heroism.
THE THRILL OF THE JOURNEY
The adventure in Jackal Retro kicks off with an exhilarating scene where a transport helicopter drops the Jeep onto enemy shores. Your main objective is to infiltrate the enemy's headquarters and destroy their ultimate weapon. The path, however, is filled with internment camps housing captive POWs. Every prisoner you rescue enhances your Jeep's grenade/missile launcher, boosting your firepower. Once your Jeep is loaded with POWs, you must hurry to the nearest heliport for an extraction chopper to retrieve them. Keep in mind, the more prisoners you extract consecutively, the more points you earn and the stronger your missile launcher becomes.
THE HARSH REALITIES OF WAR
While the mission of Jackal Retro is daring, the dangers are genuine. The Jeep can trample foot soldiers, but beware of projectiles and enemy vehicles - a collision could spell your doom. You can obtain a replacement when your Jeep is destroyed, but remember, the game ends when you complete the mission or run out of Jeep reserves. An end-game map displays your progression, showing how far you've penetrated enemy territory.
